Leukocyte migration: Scent of the T zone

نویسنده

  • Jason G. Cyster
چکیده

Recent studies show that the chemokine receptor CCR7 helps T lymphocytes and dendritic cells to navigate into the T-cell zone of lymphoid organs. Furthermore, down-modulation of CCR7 redirects some activated T cells from these zones into other lymphoid tissue compartments.

Female Scent Signals Enhance the Resistance of Male Mice to Influenza

BACKGROUND The scent from receptive female mice functions as a signal, which stimulates male mice to search for potential mating partners. This searching behavior is coupled with infection risk due to sniffing both scent marks as well as nasal and anogenital areas of females, which harbor bacteria and viruses. Consideration of host evolution under unavoidable parasitic pressures, including helm...

P27: KCNK2 and Adhesion Molecules in an in-Vitro Blood Brain Barrier Model

Two-pore domain potassium channels, like KCNK2, are known to play an important role in inflammatory diseases such as multiple sclerosis (MS). Upregulation of cellular adhesion molecules in mouse brain microvascular endothelial cells (MBMECs) of Kcnk2-/- mice resulted in elevated leukocyte trafficking into the central nervous system under inflammatory conditions. The current project aims to gain...

Endothelial-dependent Mechanisms Regulate Leukocyte Transmigration: A Process Involving the Proteasome and Disruption of the Vascular Endothelial–Cadherin Complex at Endothelial Cell-to-Cell Junctions

Although several adhesion molecules expressed on leukocytes (beta1 and beta2 integrins, platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule 1 [PECAM-1], and CD47) and on endothelium (intercellular adhesion molecule 1, PECAM-1) have been implicated in leukocyte transendothelial migration, less is known about the role of endothelial lateral junctions during this process. We have shown previously (Read, M...

Periodontal Involvement in Leukocyte Adhesion Deficiency: Review of the Literature and a Case Report

Objective: Leukocyte adhesion deficiency(LAD) is a scarce, autosomal recessive inherited disorder . LAD-I which is the most common type occurs due to mutations on the CD18 gene. This mutation leads to absence or severe reduction of leukocyte cell surface expression of ß2 integrin molecules which are necessary for the adhesion of the leukocytes to the endothelial cells, transendothelial mi...

Seasonal Variation in Floral Scent of Persian Musk Rose (Rosa moschata Hermm.)

The seasonal variation of volatile oil compositions (VOCs) from fresh flowers of Persian Musk rose was investigated by Combi PAL Headspace Techniques. In this study, a total number of 21 VOCs were detected by headspace on the Combi PAL System and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (HS-GC/MS) from Rosa moschata Herrm. at different seasons which was representing 92.53-99.37% of total VOCs. The ...
